We always have a huge response to the Simply Quilts program which
features this folded cutwork technique. Order now and get in on the fun
Coxcomb with Birds
84" x 84" 1995
The first quilt I made was this careful
reproduction of the antique piece. The design
is the same and the colors are how I imagined
the original must have looked. After this quilt
was finished, the challenge was to see what
else we could create by changing the color or
layout of the pieces to make something new -
but with recognizable ties to the original.
Twelve new quilts are pictured, along with the
templates and fabric requirements to make
each one. I hope they will inspire you to
create your own coxcomb quilt.

"Hearts Afire!"
20" x 22"
The simple symmetry pattern for this heart
applique was cut from a piece of paper with one
fold. Areas of reverse applique create a very
elegant filigree design. This would make a
beautiful Valentine's Day gift for a loved one.
