brings almost 25 years experience in quilt show competitions, as an award-winning

catch up on the backlog from previous quiltmakers or just try to keep up with our

Broderie Perse Applique-Take inspiration from a special fabric and design a chintz
appliqué block in a style that is traditional or today. Practice both blind stitch and
blanket stitch edges. Full day, Intermediate.

Pennsylvania Dutch Sunflower-This sunflower and heart motif makes a charming
little wall quilt. Learn paper folding for symmetrical designs, fused applique, and
blanket stitch.

Butterfly Wreath-Capture a ring of butterflies in flight to make a pretty wall
needle-turn applique.
Full day. Intermediate.

Ohio Rose-Learn strip ruching and ruching to create surface texture plus fine bias
stems, while making this variation of an Ohio Rose block
ruched flowers and buds for a
traditional applique block, using the
RucheMark Circular ruching guide.
Oak Leaves and Bittersweet-Create a fall wreath of oak leaves and free-form berries.
Techniques covered are needleturn appliqué, stem stitch embroidery, free-form leaves
and berries.
Evergreen and Holly Berries-Stitch a winter wreath of evergreen and holly. Techniques
include free-form berries plus evergreen embroidery using chain stitch, stem stitch,
straight stitch and color blending.

Cherry Wreath-This adaptation of a traditional cherry wreath includes corded stem,
padded fruit, a ruched butterfly, stem stitch and chain stitch embroidery.
Miniature Baltimore Bouquet-Create a classic bouquet in miniature. Techniques
covered are fine bias stems plus both strip and circular ruched flowers. Applique on a
very small scale.
French Basket-Applique this 1920's style basket and fill it with ruched flowers. Learn
strip ruching for the basket handle and new circular ruching for two sizes of flowers.
$5 pattern fee.
Wildflowers-Stitch a bouquet of pansies and lily-of-the-valley tied with flowing
ribbon. Techniques covered are free-form lily-of-the-valley, unit appliqué ribbon
and embroidery in chain stitch, stem stitch and satin stitch.
NOEL - Dimensional applique techniques include gathered, stuffed and unit-applique,
plus free-form berries. Add embroidery embellishments with blanket, chain, stem and
straight stitch.

Spring Bouquet-Create a bouquet of carnation, wildflowers and lily-of-the-valley tied
with a bow. Techniques covered are corded stems, stuffed appliqué, two types of
ruching, free-form berries and lily-of-the-valley, unit-appliqué ribbon and embroidery
embellishment.
Heart Wreath-This heart-shaped vine wreath blooms with ruched flowers, buds and
berries and is tied with a bow. Techniques include corded stems, free-form berries,
padded reverse appliqué buds, ruched flowers, unit-appliqué ribbon and embroidery
embellishment.
Miniature Baltimore Basket-Album style applique in miniature. Create a 6"
Baltimore-style block with a woven basket, strip and circular ruched flowers,
free-form berries, a ruched butterfly and embroidery.
Follett House Flowers - Applique a block in the style of the Follett House album
quilt. Techniques covered are bias stems, padded and stuffed flowers, ruched
flowers, free-form berries and embroidery embellishment
Victorian Santa-Add dimension to an old fashioned Santa with a ruched beard and
two types of ruching. Choose from a variety of accessories such as lantern, bell,
walking stick, etc. to complete your design.
EMBROIDERY
Redwork Embroidery-One basic stitch is all you need to create the charming
look of redwork embroidery. Learn this easy way to make quilt blocks, pillows
or other items with Anita’s original designs.   Half day. All levels.
Embroidery Embellishments for Album Quilts
Learn to add fine detail to your appliqué, using many different stitches and weights
of thread, including outline, stem, chain, smooth and textured satin stitches, knots,
color blending and specialty threads. Advance preparation required. Reference

Perfect Spiral Quilting Designs-Create stunning background quilting designs using

sometimes used in the background areas of nineteenth century red and green
quilts. Learn how to create your own designs, make templates and mark a quilt top.

Clamshells and Their Cousins-Explore the traditional favorite, clamshell
quilting designs, and learn many new variations which can be drawn with the
Perfect Fans & Shells tool. Half day. All levels.
Berry and Grape Designs-Use the Berries, Grapes & Tendrils template to draw
perfect circles and ovals any size. Learn easy techniques to create designs for
applique, quilting or embroidery.  Half day, all levels.
Stipple Quilting-Learn to add elegant texture to your quilts with four different
stipple quilting patterns. Focus on fine hand quilting. For experienced quilters.

TWO-DAY WORKSHOPS
Miniature Album Quilt-This nine block album quilt has a 6" center block with
woven embroidery. Add other blocks of wreaths and bouquets and finish the quilt
with a dogtooth border.
Daffodils and Hummingbird-Create a small dimensional appliqué wall hanging,
featuring corded stems, padded appliqué, ruched flowers, free-form bud,
unit-appliqué leaves and embroidery.
Harvest Wreath-Create a wreath of fruit, fall leaves, ruched flowers, berries, acorns
and a butterfly. Techniques covered are corded stems, padded and stuffed appliqué,
ruching, free-form berries, and natural embellishment. Embroidery embellishment in
stem, outline, chain stitch, satin stitch and knots.
Evergreen Wreath-Create an embroidered evergreen wreath embellished with a bow,
holly, berries, chickadees and ruched pine cones. Techniques covered are corded
stems, padded appliqué, unit appliqué ribbon, free-form berries and ruched pine
cones. Embroidery in stem, outline, chain and straight stitch.
Sunflower Patch-Use folk art applique and embroidery techniques to stitch this
almost life-size sunflower wall hanging. Add other embellishments of crow, spiderweb
or bittersweet. Learn strip ruching for larger size flowers, plus embroidered knots,
stem, chain, blanket and running stitch.  $5 pattern fee.
Surface Textures:Epergne of Fruit-Discover how combinations of cording, padding
and stuffed work can add surface texture to your quilts. Begin a large wall hanging
using seven different approaches to raised work, including corded stems, corded
tendrils, two types of padded work, stuffed berries, motifs stuffed in units, and a stuffed
feather technique.
Drafting Feathers to Fit the Quilt-Design and piece an Amish style wall quilt, such as
Center Square or Diamond, or Amish Bars. Then learn hands-on, how to use the Infinite
Feathers tool to draft your own feather designs to fill blocks of any size, and borders
which fit and turn the corner perfectly. Also adjust and combine ready-made stencils to
fit the quilt. Two days.

LECTURES
Fees:
Workshops limited to 20 students. $700 per day, $400 per
half day, plus expenses: travel, meals, lodging.
Lecture fee $350 if scheduled on same day with workshop.
Lecture only $400. Judging fee $450 per day. Will stay in
private non-smoking home.

Professional Preparation and Paperwork for Judges-This seminar for judges will
cover the resume, comment sheets, categories and awards, contracts and other
paperwork, and
professional presentation for judging at any level. Half day.

Hands-on Judging-For those wanting experience in the role of quilt judge, aide or
scribe. Learn the duties, responsibilities and ethics of working on the judging floor.
Full day.

Quilt Judging Seminar-An in-depth study of the judging process, including duties and
responsibilities, specific criteria for hand and machine work, color and design,
categories and
awards, comment sheets, contracts and other paperwork, ethics, and the role of aides
and scribes. Lecture and hands-on experience will be used throughout the two days.
