When I quilt freehand, I think it's important to have something in place to help set the mood and
scale of the background and also to define boundaries, so we know where NOT to stitch :)
I thought a few mini wholecloth patterns might be helpful for those who want to removed the belts
and do some doodling. I've designed about a dozen little wall quilts for you to try. Please note that
these cannot be finished with the Fill patterns and Fill function.
Photos accompany the patterns I've stitched out. Others will be added as I get them done. They were
surprisingly quick to make and fun to do and I'm looking forward to doing more.
The patterns are sold as .csq and will stitch out as one pattern. No need to worry about the layout or
sewing order. Just drop the pattern on the screen, size it to fit your sewing space, or smaller if you
like, and quilt.
Most will sew the frame first, then the motifs. If there are echo lines included, those will sew last,
giving you the option of changing to your background thread for a softer echo line.
On some pieces, I trimmed right at the outside stitch line and on others, I allowed 3/4" for another
margin before applying the binding.
